Applying makeup can be so messy sometimes! One minute everything is smooth sailing and then the next moment you mess up and need to start all over again. Luckily you can still save your face beat as there are quick fixes for those little mistakes we all tend to make. Below are five of the most common makeup blunders and great tips to quickly fix them without having to take ALL your makeup off, because #aintnobodygottime.
"my eyeshadow looks way too dark'
If you’ve put on too much eyeshadow and it looks too dark, follow these quick fixes. The secret is to BLEND, BLEND, BLEND some more! If you applied too much on your upper eyelid, blend the eyeshadow toward the edges with a clean brush to reduce the colour. If it still looks very dark, apply a little bit of matte cream eyeshadow with a brush and soften or blend out the eyeshadow. If you don’t have cream eyeshadow, translucent powder will do the trick. If you went too dark on the lower lash line, use a fine, clean brush to blur and blend it out, or pat it softly with a Q-tip.
"i put on too much foundation"
This happens to me a lot when I apply my makeup. I like to get full coverage but I don’t want to look like I dipped my face in a bucket of paint. If you feel like you went overboard with your foundation, do the following to take off some of the excess foundation. Lightly moisten a clean sponge or beauty blender with water (the sponge should only be damp, not soaking wet and without any makeup residue) and sponge all of your face with light downward movements. It’s super important, most of all, to avoid excess foundation and concealer around the eyes. To eliminate any excess in this area, perform the same step, and afterward, use your fingertips to softly blur the product in that area.
"i applied too much blush'
If you applied too much blush and look a distant cousin of a clown, don’t panic and don’t grab a makeup remover wipe. Stroke your cheek with a thick, loose powder brush -make sure you use a brush that is completely clean. If you still feel there is too much blush, apply translucent or clear powder with the same brush, just over the blush. That way the two powders will mix, clarifying and blending out the original colour.
"my brows are too dark"
When you makeup your eyebrows too dark it can make you look harsh and a little scary. Simply brush the eyebrow with a clean Q-tip, going against the grain of your eyebrow. You will see how quickly the colour you initially applied disappears.
"i smudged my mascara"
It’s all good. Don’t panic and start rubbing! Just simply continue applying the rest of your makeup allowing enough time for the mascara to dry. Apply a Q-tip right over the smudge. You’ll see how it quickly disappears and you don’t need to remove the makeup from your whole eye. A good trick to avoid mascara smudging is applying makeup to your lower lashes first and then to the upper lashes.
